Editorial illustration for a print magazine is a tight brief — one image has to carry the weight of an entire feature. For Austin Monthly's Top Doctors issue, that meant two pieces working at different scales: a full-page opener setting the tone, and a quarter-page piece covering multiple medical specialties. The illustration had to feel celebratory without being generic, and medically adjacent without being cold.
Both pieces ran in the January/February print issue — the full-page opener as the first thing readers see when they land on the feature. The kind of editorial placement that gets seen, not skipped.
